“The Brian Wurch Band started out as ‘The Gigolo’s” playing on Water Street in the 90’s for tips and laughs. Phil the “human jukebox” Baldus aka Pilo B lead the way on lead vocals and Dennis “Daredevil” Dykstra on drums and vocals, Brian on guitar and vocals, Add Tom “Ironman” Plutshack on the bass.
“Brian had been writing songs for years and recorded 20 songs with the Gigolos. Add Edgar Moore on sax in 2003, and Ron Turner on bass in 2010. Probably played every room in town under such names as “Brian Damage” “the Accelerators” “The XXcelerators” “Reverend Johnny Leisure” “Johnny Angel”. Brian also played guitar in the “Psycho Bunnies” Nervous Records London. A couple European tours in the 90’s.
“The best Brian Wurch Band songs, recorded by Dan Brooks, are danceable happy 70’s-sounding rock. Mostly about love of some sort. Think New York Dolls swagger. There are edgier ones, touch of country, blues, metal, so the night doesn’t get boring. Three-part harmonies honed on Water Street, and a lot of covers still in the back pocket to be whipped out if and when the time is right.”
