The Milwaukee music scene has its standout members — those who are in it for the love of music, itself, and nothing more. Brian Barney was one of those persons. Barney was both involved in local music as a drummer, guitarist and vocalist for bands such as The Buggs and Guidos Racecar (aka Lane Klozier) and also took the side of promoter, writing stories about and interviewing local bands for publications such as Maximum Ink, Vital Source Magazine and The Shepherd Express.
Many people genuinely respected and adored Barney, an inspiring individual and a heartfelt supporter of countless local musicians, doing it all with a very down to earth attitude. The loss is undeniably great then with the passing of Barney late last month at the age of 49 from a heart attack. The Milwaukee music community has already begun to pay tribute in words in such publications as The Shepherd Express, *here*, local blog the 6th Station, *here*, and AV Milwaukee, *here*.
The music community of Milwaukee can pay tribute to Barney, along with his band mates at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn (1001 E. Locust) this Saturday evening in a tribute with music from Guidos Racecar, the Buggs and Johnny Toymaker (10 p.m., 21+). As a supportive individual to the end, Barney deserves a send-off full of friends and admirers to return that support, one, last time.
