Join WMSE at 8 p.m. tonight for Local/Live. Tonight’s guest will share his own take on ‘organic’, acoustic guitar music, influenced by blues, rock, R& B and folk.Mathew Haeffel first picked up a guitar at age twelve, and used his listening memory to tap into his own writings. Currently, Haeffel has taken his writings and broadened his sound by adding percussion and vocals from Cody Calderon. Calderon plays congas, hi-hats, bass and snare while adding his voice to Haeffel’s — a band two-strong.

In a recent interview with altdash.com, Haeffel makes mention of growing up listening to the great soul singers Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Marvin Gaye. He also pointed out that some of his favorite moments of being a musician come from the live performance and meeting the show-goers.
