“Oddly enough, we actually have not played Clue together as a band,” White, Wrench, Conservatory percussionist Thom Geibel disclosed to OnMilwaukee.com back in 2007. The Milwaukee band with the board game namesake was interviewing for their then-released, self-titled debut album. Nearly three years later, the three-piece shoegazer comrades with a penchant for new wave has decided to disband and are taking up new projects and branching out.
Geibel, who has also played with Quinn Scharber and the…is fronting a new project called Innocent Civilians. Guitarist Matt Slater is involved in King’s Horses. Vocalist Dixie Jacobs…well, we’re waiting to hear what’s next for the dynamic vocalist/pianist/accordionist. This Sunday, before the band is taking one, last time to focus on WWC before they full-fledgedly hit their other music ,full stride.
Cactus Club will play host to the band who took part of Milwaukee’s music scene and doused it in a good drenching of pedals, trippy synths, mesmerizing and washed-out guitars and powerful female vocals. WWC will share the stage with two local band-pals for their final show, IfIHadAHiFi and Brief Candles –the first, one of Milwaukee’s most spazzed-out, boisterous rock acts and the latter, WWC’s soulmates in a shoegazer lover’s pedals, pedals, pedals and more pedals mindset.
And what more perfect day to celebrate soulmates in music than Valentine’s Day? WWC offers their final Milwaukee show as an official farewell Valentine to the city that’s adored them for quite a while. Show starts at 10 p.m. The Cactus Club is located at 2496 S. Wentworth.
