A new New Pornographers album is enough to get a lot of us at WMSE super excited. The Canadian pop mavens have morphed and changed over the years, adding new members and saying goodbye to old, but the band stands out for two good reasons: A.C. Newman and Neko Case, two talents of their own accord, are consistantly phenomenal-sounding together.
Bouncy beats, vocal harmonies and a diehard indie pop foundation all make the New Pornographers the rare band that has staying power, never feeling the need to change their formula. Together (released on May 4th) promises more of the same. Take a listen to the single “The Crash Years” and catch the album in its entirety tonight at Burnhearts (2599 S. Logan Avenue) at 8p.m.
