The world’s favorite drama-rock band the National was just announced to be heading thisaway August 4th to play a show at Milwaukee’s Riverside Theater. The five-piece from Brooklyn have been playing together since 1999, but first gained major recognition for their 2007 release Boxer (of which the above video’s song is taken from).
Drummer Bryan Devendorf’s urgent percussion, dark classical piano and jagged post-punk guitars are the perfect backdrop for Matt Berninger’s plaintive and somber bass vocals. The band’s past visits to Milwaukee proved that the National can command the attention of a large audience, and is evidenced by their move from past shows at the Pabst to the Riverside.
The track “Bloodbuzz Ohio” is from the National’s forthcoming release,High Violet, anticipated for a May 11th release. More information about The National at the Riverside *here*.
