Tonight On Local/Live: West of East

Sara Moilanen and Tim Suchocki may follow in the footsteps of folk-twang artists such as Neil Young, Lucinda Williams and John Prine, but manage to carry their own weight in the genre by shifting the emphasis to Molianen’s more soulful vocal style and their  introspective-yet-uplifting lyricism. The duo, known as West of East, have been performing their acoustic, guitar-centric tunes for audiences at Linneman’s and the Sugar Maple, sometimes adding slide guitarist Allen Cote [of the Championship] into the mix to create a heartfelt, pretty and solid rendition of what’s become a timeless genre.

Molianen and Suchocki have planned out a string of local shows for the summer and are warming up for a performance at Linneman’s with Whitney Mann this Saturday, June 5th by dropping by WMSE’s Local/Live tonight at 8 p.m. to play a few songs for the listening audience. You might be one of them! Tune into 91.7 FM on your radio dial or stream online at WMSE.org.
