Shroud of Despondency is a progressive-minded, extreme metal band from Milwaukee. Having existed for fifteen years as a one man project of Upper Michigan native Rory Heikkila, the last four years have found Heikkila working with Jon Liedtke (guitars), Tyler Okrzesik (bass) and Ron Blemberg (vocals) in order to take the project live and to explore an even greater expanse of dark music.
Shroud of Despondency plays emotive music primarily within the metal genre. Label them whatever you want as long as “metal” is at the end of it; the band also experiments with acoustic guitar tracks, synths, and a wide variety of other instruments. Topics include alienation, death, hatred, hallucinations/dreams, and the necessity of reverence of self.
