Part of the fun of working in college radio is that you get a whole lotta awesome stuff in the mail — lookee what Matador Records gifted us with: a very cool compilation of Austin’s music scene. Casual Victim Pile: Austin 2010 features nuggets from the 2008-now Austin music circle, with contributions from Woven Bones, Wild America, the Golden Boys and Lost Controls.
According to Matador, “‘Casual Victim Pile’=an anagram of ‘Live Music Capital’…the 19 bands represented…are not part of the same musical community (though some of ‘em are), nor can it be claimed they’re all pals (though again, several are). Let [us] be crystal clear — this compilation is only meant to reflect what [we] like in Austin circa 2008-2010 and you can probably name the inexcusable omissions just as quickly as [we] can”.
For a complete track list of a compilation everyone who’s heading to SXSW in Austin this Spring should check out, visit the Matador Records blog. Call your WMSE DJs. Make a request.
