Milwaukee Empty Bowls is celebrating 21 years of bringing together artists, chefs, and neighbors to raise awareness and funds for food pantries and meal programs in our community. Since 1999, Milwaukee Empty Bowls has donated $823,630 to help feed those in need in the Milwaukee metro area. More than 95% of the funds raised during this perennially popular event – held around World Food Day – go directly to aid the hungry in our community.
Guests at our October event have their choice from a collection of more than 2,000 ceramic bowls handcrafted and donated by local artists, teachers and students.
Soups prepared by local chefs are served with fresh bread as well as water, beer, and soda. (Check our website as we continue to update information on this year’s restaurants and supporters!) Guests take their bowls home to serve as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in our community.
With the involvement and support of MSOE, local businesses and nearly 300 volunteers, proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Project Concern of Cudahy, Friedens Community Ministries, Inc., Just One More Ministry, Groundwork Milwaukee, Street Angels, Inc., and the Jewish Community Center.
Street parking is available. For a map of MSOE surface lots surrounding the Kern Center, click here: https://www.msoe.edu/campus-experience/our-campus/campus-map/
We hope you’ll join us!
