From the band: “Mead Lake’s Most Wanted is an accidental band. Since February 2004, we’ve called ourselves a writers group, meeting monthly in bars and, twice a year, isolating ourselves for a weeklong excursion in a secluded cabin in Wisconsin’s northwoods, on a man-made lake called Mead. We wrote poetry, short fiction, essays, creative non-fiction. We failed at writing novels. We pushed ourselves beyond our comfort zone, making fine art one summer, though not one of us was a visual artist. Then one summer, someone said, “Let’s make an album.” So we did. We made an album. Not one of us a musician. We fumbled with our instruments. We wrote songs nobody would ever listen to (most were unlistenable anyway). Then something happened. We stuck with it, dedicated ourselves to it, became adept, grew in confidence, played live shows, wrote 200+ songs, hired a producer and recorded an album. A lot can happen in five years. In July 2016, we released our debut EP, Sinners Sang The Crows. Recorded at Eisley Studios in Kenosha, Wisconsin between October 2015 and February 2016, the album was produced by Christian Seibert and features guest appearances from some of our favorite local musicians, including Chris Porterfield of Field Report and Peter Thomas of I’m Not A Pilot and MSO. Honestly, we’re overwhelmed by the amount of support and encouragement we’ve received. We’re just a bunch of dads, pushing 40, doing what we love. And we’re honored to play even the smallest part of this incredible music scene here in Milwaukee.”
