With Scott Lucey
Wednesday 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM Remind Me

Scott Lucey still hasn’t warmed up to love the name of his show, but he will admit that it’s an accurate way to describe the satisfying mix of digital origins and acoustic plateaus you’ll hear each Wednesday morning.  Tune in for specific selections of pop music, electronic music, hip-hop, sometimes some soul/funk, instrumental beauties and most always something uptempo worth tapping your foot to.

Get to Know Your WMSE DJ Profile

How do you spend your days and nights when not hosting your radio show?

When I’m not hosting my show, I spend my time working as an individual in the coffee industry. My specialty is training and education. Other than work, I cook, bake, read, water plants and entertain cats.

Do you remember what band, album or song took you from being a casual music listener to a passionate music lover? Is there a memory associated with that experience?

It’s not specifically one band or album, but the memory does humor me when I think about it. First, as a child, I was given Metallica tapes by my sister’s boyfriend. If I promised to stay in my room and not tell my parents, I could listen to them. They fit in perfectly as a soundtrack to the days when I played with fighter jets and whatnot. Growing up, it was Dr. Dre’s The Chronic that I coveted most, hidden under my pillow because certainly, it wasn’t something a young teen should be tuning in on. The mid – late 90′s, I was all over the rap charts, then growing up even more, I took a liking to electronic music and continued expanding into the likes of good old modern day pop/rock, soul, funk and various chicha and cumbia packages.

What band have you heard or discovered in the past six months that reminded you why you want to continue being a WMSE DJ?

John Wizards… never heard of him/them but the self-titled album was one I’ve recently discovered that is PERFECT in my world of loving music.  This album is the perfect amount of electronic, etherial, happy sunshine pychedelic wierdness with just a touch a African influence.  It’s kind of like Paul Simon’s Graceland meets Delicate Steve.

Who is your favorite non-you WMSE DJ and why?

Dr. Fell. I feel like I have the most in common with him, which I value because every time I tune into his show I hear something I haven’t heard before; surely a fun surprise. That guy turned me onto tUnE-yArDs. Thank you, Dr. Fell! In a close second are BTS.WRKNG and Dr. Sushi. If it’s right, I can really get into jazz, which is usually the case with Sushi.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A Falconer
