Alverno Presents has made it a point to give Milwaukee artists a platform to create experiences for audiences that expand upon what they already to artistically. Through this lens, AP collaborated with Duke University to commission a long-time Milwaukee musician who has since relocated to North Carolina, Nick Sanborn (Decibully, Megafaun, COCOB, Made of Oak, Sylvan Esso), to put together a show based on the following question:
“How does an artist enter into and support someone else’s vision? And does that support, in turn, shape the sideman?”
Lend Me Your Voice happens this Friday and Saturday night at Alverno’s Pitman Theater and Nick has pulled together Milwaukee and Carolina musicians Brad Cook (Megafaun), Erin Fein (Headlights, Psychic Twin), Amelia Meath (Mountain Man, Sylvan Esso), Christopher Porterfield (Field Report), Chris Rosenau (Collections of Colonies of Bees, Volcano Choir) Joe Westerlund (Megafaun, Grandma Sparrow) and more to execute his vision. If this video from this past weekend’s performance at Duke University is any indication, the audience will walk away knowing they just shared in a sweet, smart, gentle and poignant concert, and community, experience.
